Bude mycelium materiálem budoucnosti? Firmy na něj začínají sázet

Mycelium, tedy podhoubí, zkoumá mnoho vědeckých týmů a také s ním začíná pracovat mnoho firem u nás i v zahraničí.

Jak píše Euro.cz, dobře známá je v této souvislosti třeba spolupráce startupu Bolt Threads se Stellou McCartney, britskou módní návrhářskou a dcerou legendárního „Brouka“ Paula McCartneyho, na kabelce nebo oblečení z veganské kůže či s Adidasem na teniskách Stan Smith. Také americká společnost Ecovative se zabývá využitím mycelia ve všech zmíněných oblastech, umí z něj dokonce připravit i veganskou slaninu.

Pozadu však nejsou ani české firmy. Ať už jde o komerčně úspěšný startup Myco z Kyjovska, který se zaměřuje na obaly, nebo firmu Mykylio ze skupiny Progresus a spolek Mymo. Ten spolu s Buřinkou a Fakultou architektury ČVUT právě dokončuje první tiny house ze dřeva a mycelia. Anebo designérské studio LLEV a firmu Lasvit, jež využívají mycelium ve formách pro foukání skla.

Zmíněné Myco získalo v roce 2022 od Garage Angels a JIC Ventures investici 14 milionů korun, které použilo na vývoj linky na kontinuální přípravu substrátu a další poloautomatické linky na formování výrobků. Ještě vloni byla sice firma ve ztrátě, na letošek už však její vedení plánuje zhruba trojnásobný růst s cílem dosáhnout tržeb ve výši 10 milionů korun. Současně připravujeme expanzi na německý a rakouský trh, doplňuje obchodní manažer společnosti Martin Janča.

Myco se specializuje na výrobu obalových materiálů z podhoubí, jeho klíčovým produktem je modulární obalový systém Myco 4Pack. Kromě obalů startup vyrábí i ekologické dárkové předměty, jako třeba difuzéry do aut či kanceláří. Zákazníci mu neustále přibývají, přičemž jsou mezi nimi firmy jako Camea, Meopta, ThermoFischer Scientific či Vodafone.

Mycelium je odolné vůči hoření, skvěle izoluje, je pevné, lehké a samonosné. A právě proto se jedná o ideální materiál i pro obor udržitelného stavebnictví. Tím spíš, když v mnoha ohledech dokáže nahradit polystyren.

Toho ostatně využívá i pražské Mykylio, které z mycelia vyrábí akustické panely a na objednávku umí dodat rovněž různé interiérové doplňky jako stínítka, lampy či police. Zároveň dokončuje aplikovaný výzkum a pracuje na komerční stavební příčce. A aby toho nebylo málo, plánuje vedení v čele s Matějem Róthem a Jakubem Seifertem do budoucna představit též vlastní nosnou příčku, díky níž by bylo možné postavit rovnou celý dům.

Mycelium v uplynulých letech proniklo úspěšně také do tuzemského sklářského průmyslu. Společnost Lasvit začala ve spolupráci s českým designérským studiem LLEV a Mykyliem s udržitelnou produkcí skla. Výsledkem je kolekce sklenic Symboll, z nichž se můžete napít třeba v baru luxusního hotelu W Prague (bývalý Grand hotel Europa – pozn. red.) na Václavském náměstí. Drinky na míru přímo pro tento typ skla připravil tamní šéfbarman Jan Šebek.

Pro výrobu sklářských forem, do kterých se skleničky foukají, bylo využito právě podhoubí a bukové piliny, jež vznikají jako odpad při výrobě nábytku či sklářských forem. Mycelium dokáže díky ohni modifikovat strukturu skla do originálního reliéfního povrchu, takže je každý kus originál.

Zakladatelé studia LLEV, manželé Eva a Marcel Mochalovi, mají s uplatněním mycelia v produktovém designu velmi bohaté zkušenosti. Experimentují s ním od roku 2020, přičemž za tu dobu představili různé interiérové doplňky jako svícny a stolky Myceelium nebo lampy Symbioosa. Mnohé z nich byly oceněny na Designbloku. Loni pak uvedli na trh skleněné difuzéry a v současnosti pracují také na vlastních sklenicích na nožce. (Euro.cz)
